Traditional Thai New Year (Songkran)
Traditional Thai New Year (Songkran)
Say "Happy New Year" (after 20 April) by giving a hamper-like Gift Basket and/or Drinks with your Flowers. 1 - For Thais, 1 January (Wan Khuen Pee Mai, New Year's Day in the Western (Gregorian) calendar) is a little like Christmas is for Westerners ... many Thais give their loved ones Greeting Cards and Gifts on this day. They also try to eat together as a family, visiting parents if possible. For more information, see our useful Calendar page. 2 - Chinese New Year (date varies each year, but often in February). For more information and the exact date of the next Chinese New Year, see our useful Calendar page. For gift ideas, see our special Chinese New Year product page. For advice about choosing colours for a Thai-Chinese/Chinese person, see our Advice page.
3 - Traditional Thai New Year (Songkran) still
starts on 13 April and is celebrated by a 3-Day public holiday period (13-15 April in Bangkok, different dates in some other parts of Thailand, like Pattaya) and the
Songkran (water) Festival.
For more information, see our useful Calendar page. Order some Drinks for your recipient, so they can toast (drink to) a Happy New Year ! See our Drinks page here
