- And that “regular” size condoms in Thailand are designed to fit Thai men, and are therefore too small for most Western men?

Buy the Correct Size - Make sure you buy the right size to fit you correctly. If you are not sure what size condoms you should have, buy one of our “Discovery” packs will help you find your best size. Most condoms sold in Thailand (52 mm in diameter) are a good size for Thai men but are too small for the average Western (“farang”) man (who will need 54 mm or 56 mm) – and condoms that are too small are more likely to break.
- If you wear a condom that is not wide enough for you,  they can be painful to put on and wear - cutting off the blood circulation - and also increase the risks of infection and pregnancy because they are much more likely to split or slip off during sex (a condom that is stretched to fit has its wall thickness is reduced and is more likely to burst). Badly-fitting condoms also reduce the pleasure of sex for both men and women.
- Another factor causing condom failure is lack of lubrication. Lack of lubrication will cause friction if your partner is dry. It is a good idea to have lubricant, to ensure comfortable sex. Lubricant should be water-based, not petroleum or oil based, because the that can chemically react with the condom to dissolve it, weaken it and cause it to break.
- Out of 436 men questioned in 2010 by the University of Kentucky researchers, 195 reported that their last sexual encounter involved an badly-fitting condom. 120 of those said that this had reduced their own sexual pleasure, and 57 said it had reduced it for their partner. In addition, 34 said they had removed the condom early and 18 said the condom had broken during sex. All of these problems were far less frequent among men who reported a well-fitted condom.
- As the International HIV/AIDS Alliance says ... "Men come in all shapes and sizes and so do condoms. When we talk with men about condoms tearing, slipping off or being a nuisance to use, one of the main reasons is often that they not using the right condom size."
